Heygate Estate, between Old Kent Road and Walworth Road, Southwark, London. Build in 1974 the neo-brutalist buildings were once a popular place to live, but crime, poverty and dilapidation hit the housing estate and it is now being demolished as part of the regeneration of the Elephant & Castle area. I used to live near the estate and saw the flats gradually getting boarded up as residents were rehoused. I was always astounded by the sheer enormity of the blocks.
