North Downs

The North Downs. Lying within two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the North Downs Way runs across the South East of England from Farnham (where I went to university) to Dover. I photographed an area of The North Downs near Box Hill in Surrey, very close to where the Cycling Road Race will take place during the London 2012 Olympics. It is a beautiful area, with thick woodland and undulating countryside dotted with picturesque villages, making the area popular for cyclists and ramblers alike.

Brunswick Centre

The Brunswick Centre, a residential and shopping centre in Bloomsbury, London. Equally loved and hated for it’s modernist architecture, the 1960’s concrete structure is a listed building containing 560 flats. In 2002 the centre received a much needed £24 million facelist which brought many businesses into the area. It is now a popular shopping and eating area, home to cafés, the Renoir Cinema and frequent festivals and events.

Screen on the Green

Screen on the Green, Islington, London. One of the lovely cinemas owned by Everyman, Screen on the Green offers superior comfort and service to the usual multiplex, and a glass of wine as you watch your film to boot. It shows mainstream, art house and classic films and often hosts Q&A’s with directors. Surprisingly it’s no more expensive than the chains, so why go anywhere else?…

Abbey Road

Abbey Road, St Johns Wood, London. This zebra crossing has been made famous by The  Beatles iconic Abbey Road album cover, taken by Iain Macmillan. The crossing is a popular tourist destination though also busy traffic thoroughfare, (you’ll see drivers getting frustrated at people marching back and forth over the crossing getting their photo taken). The crossing has been given Grade II listed status and the wall outside EMI’s Abbey Road Studios is repainted every three months by the council covering fans graffiti.
